The Organisation
Landcom is the NSW Government's land and property developer, creating more homes and sustainable communities across NSW. Through its Sustainable Places Strategy, Landcom is embedding climate resilience, biodiversity and nature-positive outcomes across its development portfolio.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Sustainability & Research, you will help deliver Landcom's climate resilience and nature objectives across projects, operations and decision-making. Working with internal teams, government stakeholders and specialist consultants, you will identify climate risks and opportunities, integrate nature-based solutions, and support sustainability reporting and performance measurement.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about elevating nature and biodiversity as strategic considerations in development outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate biodiversity, nature-positive outcomes and climate resilience across projects.
- Support climate risk assessments and identify adaptation and mitigation opportunities.
- Champion nature-based solutions to address heat, flooding, drought, and other climate risks.
- Monitor sustainability and biodiversity performance and support disclosure requirements.
- Develop practical tools, frameworks and guidance for project teams.
- Facilitate workshops and engage stakeholders to identify risks, opportunities and actions.
- Coordinate and manage specialist consultants and technical experts.
- Provide strategic advice and support partnerships across government, industry and research sectors.
About You
You are a proactive sustainability professional with strong biodiversity and nature expertise and a strategic, systems-thinking mindset. You understand the links between climate resilience, governance, net zero objectives and project outcomes, and can translate complex concepts into practical action.
You are comfortable facilitating workshops, engaging stakeholders and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants. Most importantly, you are a self-starter who enjoys learning and driving outcomes.
Required Skills and Proficiencies:
- Strong expertise in biodiversity, nature-positive development and environmental sustainability including experience in providing nature-based solutions and climate resilience strategies
- Understanding of biodiversity metrics, nature-related disclosures, and measuring both nature impacts and positive outcomes.
- Experience in climate risk assessment and adaptation planning.
- Strategic and systems-thinking approach to sustainability challenges.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills.
- Experience managing or collaborating with specialist consultants.
- Excellent communication, analytical and project coordination skills.
- Relevant qualifications in sustainability, environmental science, ecology, planning, engineering or a related discipline.
