About the role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Emergency Department Shift Coordinator provides advanced clinical expertise and leadership within the Adult Emergency Department at The Prince Charles Hospital. The role is responsible for the clinical oversight and coordination of each shift, ensuring safe, effective and timely patient care while supporting the productive flow of patients through the emergency department.

The successful candidate will lead and coordinate the interprofessional team, apply best-practice patient flow principles, and provide expert clinical guidance in a complex emergency care environment. They will act as a mentor, advisor and role model for staff, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and support the delivery of high-quality care that meets key performance and operational targets.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

- Provide advanced clinical leadership and coordination of the Adult Emergency Department to ensure secure, efficient and patient-centred care delivery.
- Coordinate patient flow and interprofessional team activities to optimise emergency department operations and support timely patient transitions.
- Apply expert clinical judgement, critical thinking and problem-solving skills in managing complex emergency nursing situations.




- Act as a clinical resource, mentor and advisor for nursing staff while supporting career development and contemporary emergency nursing practice.
- Lead and contribute to service improvement, policy implementation and change initiatives that enhance patient safety, quality outcomes and operational performance.
