POSITION SUMMARY
The HR & Payroll Manager is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of the organisation's payroll function, alongside providing broad, generalist HR support across the business. This is a hands-on, all-round role suited to someone comfortable balancing payroll processing with day-to-day people matters, in an organisation that is building out its HR capability as it grows.
This position is based out of Sydney but has the option to work fully remote if needed. Our client is open to either 2 or 3 days per week with Monday being an essential working day.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll
- Manage end-to-end weekly payroll processing for a mixed workforce of salaried, temporary and casual employees of 100.
- Interpret and apply relevant award conditions accurately, including shift-related pay implications.
- Respond to payroll queries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with superannuation and other statutory payroll obligations.
Human Resources
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Support performance management activities across the business.
- Prepare and manage employment contracts.
- Coordinate training and accreditation requirements.
- Provide general day-to-day HR guidance and support to staff and management.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Demonstrated experience managing an end-to-end payroll function within an Australian business.
- Working knowledge of award interpretation, ideally within a construction or similarly regulated workplace.
- Generalist HR experience across onboarding, contracts and performance management.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience with Employment Hero/Keypay is desirable.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- A proactive, adaptable approach and comfort working autonomously in a standalone role.
