About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Software Developer with one to two years' professional experience in C# and .NET to join our software engineering team. This is a junior role for a developer who has established the fundamentals in a commercial environment and is ready to build depth in production software engineering.

You'll work alongside senior developers on established, business-critical applications, contributing to feature development, defect resolution and integration work while continuing to develop the engineering practices that underpin quality software delivery. Every task you take on comes with context, a reviewer and someone to ask. Mentoring and a clear growth pathway from Junior Developer to Software Engineer are provided.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and extend application features using C# and the .NET framework.

- Write, modify and tune SQL queries and stored procedures against enterprise application databases.

- Investigate, diagnose and resolve production defects, escalating complex issues where needed.

- Contribute to work across the stack, including user interface, backend business logic and system integration tasks.

- Produce clean, maintainable, well-structured code in line with team standards.

- Participate in code reviews, both submitting your own work and reviewing that of others.

- Contribute to unit and integration testing of the code you write.

- Work with source control, branching and release processes as directed by the team.

- Maintain technical documentation, code comments and knowledge base articles.

- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives and team knowledge-sharing sessions.

About you

- Two to four years' qualified experience developing in C# and the .NET framework in a commercial environment. Experience in C++ and Linux environment





- Working knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and common design patterns.

- Practical experience writing SQL against relational databases, preferably Microsoft SQL Server.

- Experience using source control systems such as Git or Azure DevOps.

- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements, development, testing and release.

- Experience with ASP.NET, MVC, Web Forms or Web API development (highly regarded).

- Exposure to web front-end technologies including HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

- Awareness of RESTful and SOAP web services and integration between systems.

- Exposure to automated testing frameworks and unit testing practices.

- Experience with Visual Studio and associated debugging and diagnostic tooling.
