The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) is seeking a highly organised and motivated Assistant/Administrative Officer to provide high-level administrative, secretarial and paralegal support to Crown Prosecutors. The role is responsible for preparing legal documentation, managing files and records, coordinating court-related matters, liaising with courts, police, witnesses and other stakeholders, and ensuring the efficient operation of a busy legal office. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the administration of justice while supporting the prosecution of criminal matters across the Northern Territory.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience providing high-level administrative and secretarial support in a busy environment, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and meet strict deadlines. They will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling them to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders while demonstrating professionalism, sensitivity, and cultural awareness. This role requires experience in preparing legal documents and correspondence, maintaining accurate records, and managing electronic filing systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications. A commitment to confidentiality, attention to detail, and effective delivery service is essential, along with a strong commitment to public service and supporting the administration of justice.
The successful applicant will also have the ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
