We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Hand to join our team at our scrap metal yard.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, staying active and being part of a busy team environment. Experience in the scrap metal or recycling industry is an advantage, but not essential.
About the Role
Your duties will include:
- Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the scrap metal yard
- Sorting and handling scrap metal and materials
- Upgrading scrap metal
- Loading and unloading vehicles
- Operating a forklift safely and efficiently
- Following and implementing traffic management plans
- Keeping the yard clean, organised and safe
- Assisting customers and truck drivers when required
- Following workplace health and safety procedures
- General yard duties as required
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a current forklift licence – essential
- Is reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Has a good work ethic and positive attitude
- Is physically fit and comfortable with manual work
- Can work independently as well as part of a team
- Takes safety seriously
- Has good attention to detail
- Previous yard, scrap metal, recycling, warehousing or forklift experience is highly regarded
What We Offer
- Full-time position 40 hours per week (38 hours standard time & 2 hours overtime guaranteed each week)
- Be a part of a rotating Saturday roster for 4 hours (2 hours' time and a half, 2 hours double time)
