Service & Installations Technician | Global Industrial Powerhouse
If you’re the type of person who likes pulling things apart, understanding why something isn’t working, and figuring out how to get it running again, this could be a strong next step.
We’re recruiting for an established global industrial engineering business that has been operating for close to 100 years, supplying and supporting specialized equipment across manufacturing, engineering and industrial environments worldwide.
They’re looking for someone with a positive mechanical foundation who wants to develop into a well-rounded industrial technician.
You don’t need to have worked on this exact equipment before.
You might currently be working with compressors, pumps, automotive equipment, HVAC, machinery, access equipment, fabrication, manufacturing maintenance or another hands-on trade environment. What matters more is that you’re mechanically capable, curious, safety-conscious and willing to learn.
What you'll actually be doing
This is a genuine field service position. You’ll be trained on the company’s equipment before gradually taking ownership of customer sites and service calls.
Your work will include:
- Fault-finding mechanical and basic electrical issues
- Servicing and repairing industrial extraction and filtration equipment
- Preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
- Working with motors, fans, filters, ducting and associated components
- Using testing equipment, hand tools and power tools
- Supporting installations and commissioning work
- Completing service reports and documenting work accurately
- Speaking directly with customers about faults,
repairs and recommendations
- Managing your own service schedule once you’re up to speed
- Working alongside experienced technicians, contractors and project teams
There’s also room for the position to develop beyond routine servicing. For someone who shows the capability and wants the responsibility, there is potential to gain greater exposure to equipment installations, commissioning and eventually project coordination/management.
We're interested in how you think
You don't need to know everything on day one.
We'd rather speak with someone who sees a machine that isn't working and naturally starts thinking:
Is it mechanical? Is it electrical? What's changed? What can I safely isolate and test?
You’ll probably suit the role if you're a bit of a tinkerer, someone who enjoys understanding how machinery works rather than simply replacing parts.
Just as importantly, you need a strong safety mindset. You should be comfortable working around procedures such as SWMS, isolation/LOTO, Working at Heights and EWP requirements, and understand when something is outside your scope and needs to be escalated.
What you'll bring
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude
- Some experience servicing, repairing or maintaining equipment
- Basic electrical/control-system awareness
- Confidence with hand and power tools
- A logical approach to fault-finding
- Good customer communication
- Ability to work independently once trained
- Strong safety awareness
- Australian driver's licence
- Willingness to learn unfamiliar equipment and systems
A White Card, EWP, Working at Heights, Working with Children Check or forklift licence will be looked upon favourably, but don't rule yourself out if you're missing a ticket. Some training/tickets can be arranged for the right person.
Why consider it?
You're joining a business with the stability and technical backing of an established global industrial engineering group, rather than a small operator where you've hit the ceiling after a couple of years.
You'll receive proper product and systems training, exposure to different industrial environments and the autonomy to eventually manage your own field work.
For someone earlier in their industrial service career, the attraction is where it can lead: service ? more complex fault-finding ? installations/commissioning ? greater project responsibility.
The package includes:
- $75,000–$85,000 + super, depending on experience
- Company vehicle
- Phone, laptop and iPad
- Uniform
- Product and systems training
- Field-based work across Melbourne and surrounding areas
- Occasional regional/interstate exposure
- Long-term development opportunities
- Immediate start available
If you're mechanically switched-on, enjoy solving problems and want to build a long-term career around industrial equipment, Apply Now for a confidential discussion.
