Support CDU researchers to secure external funding through grant development, business development, and strategic research partnerships.
About the Position
As the Research Grants & Business Development Officer, you will be responsible for providing high-level pre-award support to researchers to grow Charles Darwin University's external research income. Working within the Office of Research and Innovation, you will identify funding opportunities, support the development of competitive grant applications, provide expert advice on compliance and funding requirements, coordinate submissions to external funders, and contribute to business development activities that strengthen CDU's research capability and strategic partnerships.
At the Senior level (Level 7), you will also coordinate complex, high-value funding applications and provide expert review and feedback to enhance the competitiveness of major grant proposals.
About You
To be successful, you will require:
• Ability to identify, analyse and communicate external research funding opportunities aligned with strategic priorities;
• Experience supporting the preparation and submission of high-quality grant proposals, including compliance reviews, approvals, and stakeholder coordination;
• Skills in preparing funding budgets, reviewing costings, and ensuring compliance with funder and institutional requirements;
• Ability to liaise effectively with funding agencies, researchers, collaborators, and external partners to support successful funding submissions;
• Experience maintaining accurate records, reporting, and information resources, including webpages, newsletters, and research management systems;
• Ability to contribute to training, workshops, continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborative research support services;
• Commitment to the University's values.
Additional Duties at Level 7:
• Coordinate complex, high-value, and strategically significant funding applications;
• Undertake critical reviews of major grant proposals and provide expert feedback to strengthen competitiveness, compliance, budget robustness, and overall application quality.
Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory National Criminal History check and a valid NT Working with Children clearance
Remuneration
Appointment for this role will be at Professional Level 6/7.
The base salary will be in the range of $89,487.76 – $105,992.00 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $104,700.68 - $124,010.64 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
