About the role:
- Matters spanning shareholder and governance disputes, professional negligence, contractual and earn-out disputes, insolvency and restructuring, misleading or deceptive conduct and equitable claims.
- Recent work has included urgent applications concerning confidential information, security for costs appeals, complex DOCAs, payroll tax appeals and ongoing director and shareholder disputes.
- Manage matters from start to finish, including drafting pleadings, affidavits and evidence and contributing to overall case strategy.
- Regularly attend Court, including directions hearings and subpoena returns.
- Brief and instruct counsel and deal directly with clients, experts and other stakeholders.
- Work across matters in the NSW Courts and Federal Court.
- At the more senior level, take greater responsibility for driving matters and supervising and mentoring junior lawyers
The ideal candidate:
- Commercial Litigation Lawyer with approximately 2–10 years’ PQE.
- Looking for a (x1) Solicitor/Associate and a (x1) Senior Associate
- A law degree from an accredited Australian or New Zealand university, underpinned by strong academic records.
- Solid hands-on experience with Court processes and procedure, particularly commercial litigation in the NSW Courts and Federal Court.
- Strong drafting skills across pleadings, affidavits, correspondence and advice.
- Experience attending directions hearings, subpoena returns and other Court appearances.
- Solid understanding of evidence and commercial litigation principles.
- Comfortable dealing directly with clients and counsel and taking ownership appropriate to your level.
- Confident, commercially minded and able to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
