Role: Solution Architect - IAM
Hourly Rate: $150 - $175 + Super
Contract Length: 12 months + 12 month extension
Location: Canberra/WFH Flex

Security Clearance - Must be AUS Citizen able to obtain NV1

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Identity Architect / Solution Architect specialising in Identity & Access Management (IAM) to help shape and mature enterprise identity capability within a complex, mission-critical Federal Government environment.

This is a highly influential role combining hands-on identity architecture, strategic roadmap development, governance, cyber security and stakeholder leadership.

The Role

As the Identity Architect, you'll lead the design, governance and continual improvement of enterprise identity architecture, ensuring identity platforms, integrations and security controls are secure, resilient, scalable and aligned with broader enterprise architecture.

You'll work closely with cyber security, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, cloud, applications, digital, HR and operational teams to establish consistent identity standards and guide delivery across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development and governance of enterprise Identity & Access Management architecture.
- Develop and maintain identity strategies, roadmaps, reference architectures, standards, patterns and architecture decision records.
- Architect identity solutions across Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory and hybrid cloud environments.
- Define architecture for federation, SSO, MFA, Conditional Access and identity integration.




- Establish identity lifecycle management and governance practices.
- Provide architecture direction across Privileged Access Management (PAM), RBAC, ABAC, entitlement management and least privilege.
- Define integration patterns between identity platforms, applications, SaaS platforms, infrastructure and authoritative source systems.
- Conduct architecture reviews and assurance of identity-related solution designs.
- Assess architectural risk, security requirements, non-functional requirements and operational readiness.
- Provide senior-level advice on identity architecture, security risks, controls and improvement opportunities.
- Work with technical teams and service owners to embed consistent IAM standards and patterns.
- Mentor architects, engineers and delivery teams on contemporary identity architecture practices.
- Support increased identity, access and operational requirements during significant organisational events.

About You

- Extensive experience designing and governing enterprise Identity & Access Management architecture.
- Strong architecture experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory.
- Expertise across federation, SSO, MFA, Conditional Access and hybrid identity.




- Strong knowledge of identity lifecycle management and Identity Governance & Administration (IGA).
- Experience with Privileged Access Management.
- Strong understanding of RBAC, ABAC, entitlement governance and least privilege.
- Experience integrating identity solutions across cloud, on-premise, SaaS and enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of Zero Trust architecture and cyber security principles.
- The ability to translate business, security and operational requirements into practical architecture solutions and roadmaps.
- Experience producing reference architectures, standards, patterns and architecture decision records.
- Solid technology risk, architecture assurance and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior executives, architects, technical teams and external providers.
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring specialists and delivery teams.

Highly Desirable

- Previous experience within Federal Government, regulated or mission-critical environments.
- TOGAF, CISSP, CISM or relevant Microsoft identity/security certifications.
- Strong understanding of cyber security architecture, logging, monitoring, privacy, resilience and assurance.
- Experience supporting architecture governance forums, procurement processes or large-scale transformation programs.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, cyber security, enterprise architecture or a related discipline.
