As the Principal Policy and Project Officer, Climate Change, you will lead the development and delivery of major climate change policy and projects that support government priorities and strengthen climate action across South Australia. You'll work with stakeholders across government, industry and the community to deliver practical climate mitigation and emissions reduction actions.

In this exciting role, you will:

- Develop and implement climate change initiatives, focusing on emissions reduction and carbon accounting.

- Provide high-quality policy and technical advice to stakeholders and government leaders on key climate change mitigation issues.

- Drive projects from planning through to delivery, ensuring strong governance and successful outcomes.

- Analyse emerging issues, legislation and technical information to develop strategic solutions.

- Build strong partnerships across government and with external stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes

About the Role:

The Principal Policy and Project Officer, Climate Change is responsible for leading, managing and evaluating complex climate change management policy and program development and implementation. The role provides expert policy, program and technical advice, manages projects and leads activities related to stakeholder engagement, governance, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. The position will liaise closely with stakeholders internal and external to government and be responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships that support key role outcomes.

Contract: Term Contract up to 2 years with possibility of further extension

Desirable Qualifications: An appropriate degree in public policy, environmental management, climate related science, law, economics, engineering, or a related discipline is highly desirable.

Special Conditions:

- May be required to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

- You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia.

- A current class “C” driver's licence and willingness to drive is desirable

- May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel and occasional overnight absences.

A successful applicant who is not currently employed by the Department for Environment and Water will be required to have an original photo identification document sighted and provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued within the last 12 months. This information must be supplied by all applicants who are shortlisted for interview.

Remuneration: ASO7 ($116,089 min - $125,490 max) p.a.
