The Team

The Surgical and Endoscopy Access (SEA) Unit comprises of Nursing staff and Booking Clerks who manage patients on the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) Elective Surgery Waiting List and Endoscopy Waiting List. The Unit facilitates the patient journey from General Practitioner (GP) referral and outpatient clinic attendance through to procedure and treatment. By Liaising with patients, their community care providers, specialist health services, their treating surgical teams and allied health within the RHH a tailored patient centric care plan is coordinated and communicated to promote timely, efficient, and safe care for Tasmanians.

The SEA Unit is the key service in the administration of elective waiting lists, promoting risk stratification by surgical specialty and within urgency categories by considering indications for surgery as well as patient comorbidities and social needs. The unit receives clinical guidance from each of the surgical specialties regarding their patient's safe surgical preparation, as well as perioperative best practice oversight by the Department of Anaesthetic & Perioperative Medicine (DAPM) and governance of the Anaesthetic Assessment Clinic. The SEA Unit liaises with allied health and inpatient wards to plan accommodations for the nuance of care needs during post-operative recovery, and where achievable commences early discharge planning.

The Role

- Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe, quality, clinically appropriate nursing care
- Supports the designated specialty unit/s and under guidance of the Registered Nurse assists with planning the patient elective surgery care pathway
- Is guided by policy, protocol and procedures developed and authorised by Department of Health (DoH) and the Department of Anaesthesia & Perioperative Services

You will need

- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Be patient focussed
- Experience in acute surgical nursing with knowledge of pre-admission, admission and discharge highly desirable

Details of appointment

Multiple permanent part time,



day worker positions, working 48 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$73,109 to $80,524 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria

- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse.
