Mechanical Project Manager
Location - South Eastern suburbs, Melbourne
Salary - $180,000 - $190,000 incl car/car allowance + bonus ($40k - $50k paid to every Project Manager last year)
Whether you've run your own business or been the go to person at a smaller contractor, you've probably learned the same thing - when it's a small operation, everything lands on you!
This role is about keeping that hands on control, minus carrying it all alone.
My client is a family-owned mechanical services business that's been part of Melbourne's commercial landscape for over 40 years - schools, aged care, hotels, manufacturing plants, you name it. They're growing, and they need someone who can run a project end-to-end without being told how.
You'll start on light commercial and fit-out projects - jobs where you can get runs on the board fast, before stepping into bigger commercial projects as you settle in.
What's in it for you:
- Real autonomy. They're not interested in micromanaging someone who's already proven they can run a job without hand holding.
- A genuine path up. As they grow, so does the scope of what you're managing.
- Family culture, four decades in the making. Not a corporate box-ticking exercise.
- Mentorship from people who've been doing this since before spreadsheets existed.
What you'll be doing:
- Running mechanical (HVAC) projects from handover through to completion, on light commercial and fit-out jobs to start
- Managing project budgets, programs and variations, and keeping them on track
- Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to hit deadlines
- Liaising directly with clients, builders and consultants as the main point of contact
- Reading and working from mechanical drawings and specifications
- Keeping on top of compliance, quality and safety on site
- Reporting on project progress and flagging risks before they become problems
This role is a good fit if you've worked in a small, hands on setting - whether that was your own business or a smaller contractor - and want the backing of an established company, without losing the autonomy you're used to.
If that sounds like you, I'd love to hear from you.
Send me your CV, give me a call for a chat, or just flick me a message - whatever's easiest.
