About the role
We are seeking a dedicated WH&S; (Workplace Health and Safety) Officer to join our team in Brisbane. This is a full-time position based at on-site at our Rochdale project, offering the prospect to make a significant impact on safety culture. As WH&S; Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring health and safety systems and management plans to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standards. This role that directly contributes to protecting our workforce and maintaining our reputation as a safety-conscious organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Implementation of RCQ's Safety Management Systems and management plans.
- Promotion and compliance of health, safety and environmental laws on site
- Reviewing of contractor safe work method statements, hazardous chemical risk assessments and plant packs
- Performing site safety inductions, audits, inspections and risk/training assessments, and hazard/incident identifications
- Raising Non-Conformances and Observations
- Conducting toolbox and safety meetings on site
- Ensure all visitors, employees and subcontractors comply with company requirements.
- Identify any workplace hazards and initiate appropriate action plans & safety initiatives.
- Investigate and report on any workplace related incidents.
- Provide leadership and proactive direction to project staff ensuring they work efficiently and effectively in relation to the company safety systems.
What we're looking for
- Certificate IV or Higher in Workplace Health and or relevant qualifications in Health, Safety and Environment.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Health & Safety role in the multi storey residential construction industry.
- Strong understanding of Queensland construction WHS requirements
- A practical, hands-on approach to safety
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Current Advanced First Aid Certification
- Possess the ability to understand and follow systems, conduct thorough investigation/risk assessments and prepare accurate written documentations and reports.
- Excellent written, verbal and organisational skills
- Well-developed analytical, problem solving and leadership skills
- A trade background or trades assistant experience will be highly regarded.
- Prior knowledge and application/use of Hammertech
