The Mad Fish is seeking an Experienced Front of House Wait Staff member to join our dynamic hospitality team. This is a casual position based in Yeerongpilly, QLD 4105 . As a front-facing member of our team, you will be instrumental in delivering exceptional customer service and creating memorable dining experiences for our guests. This role is vital to maintaining the high standards The Mad Fish is known for and directly contributes to our reputation within the hospitality industry.

Key responsibilities

- Greeting guests warmly upon arrival and seating them in accordance with restaurant procedures
- Presenting menus and providing knowledgeable recommendations about our food and beverage offerings
- Taking accurate food and beverage orders and communicating them clearly to the kitchen and bar staff
- Serving food and drinks promptly, professionally and with attention to detail, following all health and safety protocols
- Maintaining table settings and ensuring dining areas remain clean, tidy and welcoming throughout service
- Responding to guest inquiries and requests in a courteous and efficient manner
- Processing payments and handling cash or card transactions accurately
- Clearing and resetting tables between seatings
- Collaborating with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service operations
- Assisting with general restaurant duties including restocking supplies and setup as required

What we’re looking for





- Proven experience working as wait staff in a hospitality workplace, preferably in a restaurant or café setting
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a genuine passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences
- Attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple tables simultaneously
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and carry items safely
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a collaborative team
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems is advantageous
- RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification is preferred
