Altitude Supports and Coordination is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Atherton, QLD 4883. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will be at the heart of our mission to empower and support people with disability to live fulfilling, independent lives. Your role will be crucial in providing person-centred care and assistance, helping our clients to achieve their goals and participate fully in their communities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with disabilities in line with their individual support plans and preferences
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks
- Support clients to participate in community activities, social outings, and recreational programmes
- Help clients develop and maintain life skills that promote independence and self-confidence
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and other team members to ensure coordinated and consistent support
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of support provided and any observations relevant to client wellbeing
- Respond to client needs with patience, respect, and dignity, adapting your approach to individual circumstances
- Work collaboratively with the broader support team to deliver high-quality, person-centred services
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements in the aged and disability support sector
What we’re looking for
- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Patience,
empathy, and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
- Reliability and a strong work ethic, with the ability to manage your own time effectively in a casual role
- Physical fitness and the ability to provide personal care assistance as required, with awareness of safe lifting and handling techniques
- A valid driver's licence and access to reliable insured vehical
- Willingness to undertake training and obtain relevant qualifications, including disability support certifications
- A current Working with Children Check, NDIS worker screening check and a valid police clearance
- Relevant experience in disability support, aged care, or community services
