We are seeking an experienced female Disability Support Worker to provide consistent, person-centred support to and NDIS participant with complex support needs.
The role involves 6 hours of support per day, 7 days per week, including:
4 hours – In-home household tasks
2 hours – Community access
Shift hours: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
The successful Support Worker will assist with:
General household tasks and cleaning within the participant's caravan/home environment.
Maintaining a safe, clean and organised living environment.
Supporting the participant to access the community and attend activities.
Providing appropriate assistance with daily living activities.
Building a professional and respectful working relationship with the participant.
Following the participant's support plan, risk management strategies and organisational policies.
Maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
Completing accurate shift notes and reporting any incidents or concerns appropriately.
Female Support Worker required.
Previous experience supporting people with complex psychosocial and behavioural support needs.
Demonstrated ability to maintain qualified boundaries in challenging situations.
Experience responding appropriately to sexually inappropriate comments or conversations.
Ability to remain calm, professional and consistent when the participant becomes distressed or frustrated.
Current driver's licence.
4WD vehicle with roof racks is required for this role.
NDIS Worker Screening Check and other relevant compliance requirements.
Reliable and committed to regular shifts.
The participant has a history of making sexually inappropriate comments and asking personal questions of female Support Workers, including questions relating to dating and sexual relationships.
At times, the participant may become upset or distressed if a Support Worker does not engage in these conversations.
The successful candidate must therefore be confident and experienced in maintaining professional boundaries, redirecting inappropriate conversations appropriately, and implementing the participant's behaviour support strategies.
Support Workers will not be expected to answer personal or sexual questions. Workers should respond professionally, maintain appropriate boundaries and report concerns in accordance with the participant's support plan and organisational procedures.
Participant's Diagnoses / Support Needs
The participant has been diagnosed with:
Complex PTSD
Complex Mood Disorder
History of suicidal tendencies
Due to the complexity of the participant's support needs, experience in mental health, psychosocial disability and behaviour support is highly desirable.
