WHY THE ROLE MATTERS
The Salvation Army Australia’s (TSA) Homelessness Stream provides high-quality, person-centered services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. Foster House offers a protected, welcoming, and inclusive environment to some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people experiencing homelessness in the inner city of Sydney. The 24/7-hour service supports fifty single men in a residential setting. The team works in line with Trauma Informed Care principles, the No Wrong Door Policy, and The Salvation Army’s Mission, Vision & Values at all times.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Intake and Assessment Worker to conduct needs-based assessments in a prompt, empathetic and collaborative manner.
This is a permanent part-time (24 Hours Per Week) position based in Surry Hills, NSW.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Crisis Level 1.
The successful applicant will be reporting to the Residential Services Team Leader.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Support the implementation of the Homelessness Stream Model of Care that underpins services, defines expectations and standards for those we serve.
- Perform the role in line with Trauma Informed Care principles.
- Work with Team Leaders and Case Managers to identify and respond to client needs and requests in a prompt, empathetic and collaborative way.
- Create a safe space for anyone that presents seeking support/assistance.
- Update and maintain case notes in a timely fashion.
- Complete reports for incidents,
near misses and address potential high-risk situations and other work hazards.
- Acquire and maintain professional relationships with local providers and internal stakeholders.
- Identify service gaps and risks, make recommendations for service delivery to the Leadership Team.
- Participate in ongoing professional and skill development to enhance service delivery and practice.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- A Working With Children Check.
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Minimum Cert IV in Community Services (required).
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of Trauma Informed care framework is desirable.
