First Nations Social and Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner
We are seeking a Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Practitioner to work within the Redcliffe Medicare Mental Health Centre multidisciplinary team. The role provides culturally responsive mental health, psychosocial and SEWB support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing the Centre.

We are seeking a Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Practitioner to work within the Redcliffe Medicare Mental Health Centre multidisciplinary team. The role provides culturally responsive mental health, psychosocial and SEWB support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing the Centre.
Key responsibilities
- Undertaking psychosocial and biopsychosocial assessments
- Developing recovery and support plans with Community Members
- Providing trauma-informed, strengths-based and recovery-oriented support
- Supporting people experiencing mental health distress and complex psychosocial needs
- Coordinating referrals to health, mental health, housing, AOD and community services
- Providing outreach support across Redcliffe and Southern Moreton Bay
- Providing cultural guidance and secondary consultation to the broader Medicare Mental Health team where appropriate
- Contributing to culturally safe and responsive service delivery
About you
- Holds a tertiary qualification in Social Work or an appropriate Allied Health discipline
- Has experience in mental health, psychosocial or Social and Emotional Wellbeing support
- Understands Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social and Emotional Wellbeing and holistic approaches to health
- Has experience working within trauma-informed, strengths-based and recovery-oriented practice
- Can build strong relationships with Community Members, families, services and stakeholders
- Works effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Has strong communication, assessment, record-keeping and case coordination skills
Highly desirable: Experience within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, First Nations health service or community mental health setting
