We are seeking to establish a pool of Health and Physical Education (HPE) Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 and 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Note:

This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. Application requirements include character limited responses to address only 2 Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) domains at application stage. The remaining AITSL domain will be assessed as part of the further assessment stage, for shortlisted applicants only.

The Role





Join an enthusiastic and highly collaborative HPE team at KBCHS, where you will have the opportunity to teach to your strengths and passions. Our diverse HPE programs include Outdoor Education, Sport Science, and specialist Sport Development classes in AFL, Basketball, Netball and Soccer, providing staff with the opportunity to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences across a range of contexts.

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your professional practice, contribute to a strong sporting culture, and make a genuine difference in the lives of young people within a supportive and connected school community.

Beyond the classroom, staff have opportunities to lead camps, coordinate sporting programs and attend major events such as Country Week District High Schools. In 2025, KBCHS had its largest-ever representation at Country Week DHS and achieved outstanding success, winning A-Grade championships in Futsal, Volleyball, Hockey and Netball. Working at KBCHS provides valuable experience in event management, team leadership and the delivery of high-quality extra-curricular opportunities for students.

Suitable applicants will ideally have the professional knowledge, skills and experience required to deliver an engaging, contemporary and relevant secondary HPE curriculum. You will be committed to building positive and productive relationships with students, while working collaboratively with colleagues to improve student engagement, achievement and wellbeing outcomes.

The ability to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices, including the effective integration of digital technologies, will be highly regarded. Suitable applicants should be able to work collaboratively to plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality teaching and learning programs that cater for a diverse range of student needs and abilities.

We are seeking reflective practitioners who are committed to creating and maintaining safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments. Suitable applicants will ideally have robust data literacy skills and the ability to use student achievement and engagement data to inform teaching practice, differentiate instruction and maximise learning outcomes for all students.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $4 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
