Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) is seeking a dedicated and professional Archaeologist/Cultural Heritage Advisor This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the protection and preservation of Bunurong culture, land and heritage while working within a values-driven organisation.

About Us
Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) is the Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) representing the Bunurong people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation.
We advocate for the protection of Bunurong cultural heritage, the care of Country, and the wellbeing of our community and workforce across Greater Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula and the Bass Coast. Our work is grounded in culture, respect and strong governance.
Your Role
As the Archaeologist / Heritage Advisor, you will support the protection and management of Aboriginal cultural heritage across the RAP area. Working with Traditional Owners and key stakeholders, you'll provide strategic advice on culturally sensitive matters and contribute to heritage-related projects in line with the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006.
Key responsibilities:
Support BLCAC's strategic objectives by ensuring all operations align with organisational priorities.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation for all cultural heritage management activities.
Actively engage with traditional owner groups to strengthen collaboration and partnerships.
Participate in internal and external reviews to improve practices and outcomes.
About You:
You will ideally bring:
Aboriginality, particularly Bunurong Nation heritage (desirable)
A relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualification in archaeology, anthropology, or cultural heritage management (specific to Victoria)
A comprehensive understanding of Aboriginal cultural heritage management, including relevant legislation, policy, and community aspirations
Listed Heritage Advisor, or willingness to obtain this credential or work towards it
Solid communication skills, with the ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal communities
Demonstrated computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and project timelines
Effective skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, mediation, and decision-making
A proactive and innovative approach to service delivery and continuous improvement
The ability to influence decisions through strategic stakeholder engagement
A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
A clear Working with Children Check and National Police History Check
