About the Role

The Acute Care Service model of care provides:

- 1.Mental Health assessments to people experiencing acute mental health problems ( including a rapid response when indicated) and determining an appropriate pathway to care (eg community treatment; assist consumers access and admission to inpatient treatment)
- 2.Short term intensive treatment in the community often as an alternative to hospital
- 3.In reach to hospital to promote effective follow up post mental health admission
- 4.Gatekeeping- developing opportunities for assessment and community treatment at key points (eg; Assessment Unit and Admission Office)
- 5.The model provides short term treatment after assessment up until the acute symptoms are resolved or the consumer is effectively transferred and engaged with an appropriate treatment provider.

Ideal Candidate

- Recognised tertiary qualifications appropriate to profession. Full registration and eligibility for membership to qualified association, as appropriate.
- Demonstrated competencies to provide contemporary mental health practice.
- Understanding of and commitment to recovery oriented services and consumer involvement in service provision.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
