The Nurse Manager provides leadership, role modelling and effective management to a team of nurses in providing patient care, through administering a number of agreed upon clinical procedures. They work with the Business Manager and Medical Director to understand the levers of the P&L; and manage a team based on this. The Nurse Manager leads, coaches, trains and mentors a team of nurses to deliver quality clinical outcomes to patients and is responsible for the maintenance and efficiency of the treatment room within the Medical Centre.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach and mentor a team of nurses and assistants to deliver quality clinical outcomes by following ForHealth's policies and procedures, continually training, up-skilling, educating and developing nurses on industry best practices and new medical procedures
- Proactively manage, assess and lift the performance of direct reports and contribute to the completion of nurses' personal development plans
- Audit nurse performance within the centre, including performance management in line with ForHealth's processes
- Effectively delegate operational tasks to ensure productive nursing service at centre
- Manage equipment and medical supplies within the treatment room, including equipment functionality, maintenance/repairs and calibration, and ensure the room is sufficiently stocked and well maintained
- Support with nursing recruitment
- Conduct weekly reporting and review data from the treatment room daily log and other generated reports
- Work with the Business Manager and Medical Director to review centre financials, make strategic decisions and create a cohesive and effective workplace
- Develop and implement nursing rosters in accordance with the Award and regulatory requirements to ensure adequate supervision and appropriate skill mix
- Undertake all possible measures to fill vacant nursing shifts
- Collect health history, plan, coordinate and document patient care, and evaluate patient outcomes related to patient condition(s) in accordance with ForHealth-endorsed policies and standing orders
- Assist the GP with conducting health assessments, GP management plans, team care arrangements, reviews and initiate other chronic disease management tasks in accordance with Medicare requirements
- Ensure clinical areas are adequately stocked and take action to replenish stock before depletion
- Clean and sterilise instruments as required and ensure instruments are maintained and replaced when no longer in working order
About you
- Registered Nurse
- At least 2 years' experience providing direct clinical nursing care
- Basic computer skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Problem solving
- Conflict and issue resolution
- Planning and organising
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Sound clinical knowledge
- Experience in a primary care setting and understanding of chronic disease management, prevention principles and health promotion desirable
