About the company/role:
An exciting opportunity is available for atechnically minded Laser Service Engineer. This full time permanent position is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, servicing and repair of advanced laser systems and associated scientific instrumentation across ANZ. The role supports academic, research and industrial customers and requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service. Travel is approximately 50% of the role, primarily within metropolitan locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, commission and maintain laser systems and related equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical faults.
- Service ancillary equipment including chillers and gas delivery systems.
- Provide onsite and remote technical support to customers.
- Deliver customer training on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Prepare accurate service reports and technical documentation.
- Support technical demonstrations and customer evaluations.
- Identify opportunities for upgrades, service contracts and additional sales.
- Manage spare parts inventory, service quotations and CRM records.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company standards.
Skills/experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or related discipline.
- Experience servicing laser systems or other high-technology capital equipment.
- Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of gas systems and industrial chillers well regarded
- Excellent communication, organisational and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Current driver's licence and valid passport (or ability to obtain one).
- Experience with scientific instrumentation, photonics or machine vision is advantageous.
- Previous customer training or capital equipment sales support experience is desirable.
