What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an authentic, strategic, and resilient leader who brings:
- Qualifications / Tertiary degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce, plus full membership (or eligibility) with CPA/CA.
- Leadership strength with proven track record in leading teams, driving positive culture, and managing change.
- Technical expertise and a deep understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), statutory reporting, budgeting, and financial modelling.
- Strategic thinking with ability to simplify complex financial data into actionable, high-level advice for executive stakeholders.
- Communication & Influence with outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills with a strong customer focus.
- Highly Regarded: Experience in Local Government, familiarity with theLocal Government Act (NSW) 1993, and experience with systems like Civica Authority.
Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications

- Qualifications: Relevant tertiary degree in Finance/Accounting and CPA/CA membership (or eligibility).
- Experience: Extensive senior financial management experience (local government experience highly regarded).
- Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading high performing, values-based teams.
- Governance: Strong knowledge of financial legislation, regulatory frameworks, and audit compliance.
- Analytical & Reporting Skills: Proven ability to analyse complex financial matters and produce explicit, high-level reports.
- Communication: Exceptional written, verbal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Agility: Demonstrated resilience, autonomous working style, and ability to meet competing deadlines under pressure.
- Continuous Improvement: Experience driving strategic direction, innovation, and process improvement.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $70.17 per hour with progression up to $77.46 per hour dependent upon skills and experience.
