Clinical Psychologist / Clinical Psychology Registrar – Flexible Role

A sustainable way to work in private practice

At MindBox Psychology, we believe excellent clinical care and clinician wellbeing go hand in hand.

We want our clinicians to enjoy coming to work, feel connected to their colleagues and have enough time and flexibility for their lives outside work. You will be supported to develop your clinical interests, maintain a sustainable caseload and become the best clinician you can be—without pressure to work excessive hours or accept presentations that are not right for you.

Every Psychologist at MindBox Psychology holds a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. This shared level of training and commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care is an important part of what sets our practice apart.

About MindBox Psychology

MindBox Psychology is an established private practice in St Leonards, Sydney. For 20 years, we have provided evidence-based assessment and treatment to children and adults through face-to-face and telehealth appointments.

Our multidisciplinary team of 12 includes Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Psychology Registrars, and Speech Pathologists.

We have a collaborative culture in which clinicians consult informally, share resources and learn from one another’s experience. On a typical day, you will work alongside approximately three other clinicians in person, so you can enjoy the independence of private practice without feeling professionally isolated.

About the role

We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Psychology Registrar to work 2–3 days per week with adults, children or a combination of both.

You can choose the working arrangement that best suits you:

- A salaried employee position , offering an above-award salary, superannuation and relevant employee entitlements; or
- An independent contractor arrangement .

You can also choose:

- The days and hours you work

- Whether you work with adults, children or both

- The presentations and clinical areas you would like to develop

- A combination of face-to-face and telehealth sessions

- Whether you would like to offer evening or weekend appointments or neither

Most of our clinicians work between 9 am and 5 pm on weekdays . Evening and weekend work is entirely optional.

The role involves clinical assessment, formulation and evidence-based treatment. Psychometric assessments are not required.

We aim to match referrals thoughtfully with each clinician’s experience, areas of competence and clinical interests, while also considering the needs of the practice and our clients.

What we offer

Individual supervision included

Individual supervision with the Director—an experienced Clinical Psychologist and AHPRA Board-approved supervisor —is included as part of the role.

Supervision can be tailored to your level of experience, clinical work and professional-development needs.

Ongoing referrals

We have clients ready to book and a steady stream of referrals from local GPs, specialists, schools, existing clients and online enquiries.

You will not be expected to find or market for your own clients. We manage the practice’s marketing so that you can focus on your clinical work.

A genuinely supportive team

Our clinicians are encouraged to ask questions, seek another perspective and consult informally with colleagues. Team members are generous in sharing their knowledge, experience and clinical resources.

You will have autonomy in your clinical work while knowing that support is readily available whenever you need it.

Exceptional administrative support

Our experienced Practice Manager and strong reception team manage enquiries, bookings, payments and day-to-day client administration.

We operate a virtually paperless practice with easy-to-use practice-management software, minimising unnecessary administration for clinicians.

Career development

Practice professional-development meetings are held approximately once every six weeks . These provide opportunities to explore clinical topics, discuss cases, share knowledge, present to colleagues and continue developing your skills.

Genuine work–life balance

You can choose a schedule and caseload that are sustainable for you, with the option to complete some telehealth sessions from home.

There is no requirement to work evenings or weekends or to take on an excessive caseload. We value clinicians looking after themselves and maintaining fulfilling lives outside work.

Extensive clinical resources

You will have access to a substantial collection of physical and electronic treatment materials, clinical tools and assessment resources developed over many years.

Optional specialist experience

MindBox Psychology works alongside our partner practice, the Selective Mutism Clinic, which provides specialist assessment and treatment to children and adults with Selective Mutism.

If this area interests you, there may be opportunities to become involved with the specialist clinic. Involvement is entirely optional.

Modern, conveniently located consulting rooms

Our consulting rooms are situated in a modern building above a plaza in the heart of St Leonards.

We are within easy walking distance of both Crows Nest Metro Station and St Leonards Train Station , as well as buses, cafés and shops. Virgin Active gym is conveniently located in the same building.

About you

You will need:

- A Master’s or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology

- General registration with AHPRA

- Clinical Psychology endorsement or eligibility to undertake the Clinical Psychology Registrar program

- Sound training in CBT and other evidence-based approaches

- A commitment to thoughtful, high-quality clinical care

- An interest in contributing to a collaborative and supportive team

Private-practice experience is welcome but not essential. We are most interested in finding a clinician whose values and approach are a good fit for our team.
