Salary: $73,500 plus 12% super

George's Apollo Bay Restaurant operates a vibrant hospitality establishmentin the heart of Apollo Bay, Victoria. We are committed to providing high-quality food and excellent customer service to both local residents and visitors exploring the beautiful coastal region.

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare, season and cook a variety of menu items in accordance with recipes;
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients using various kitchen utensils and equipment;
- Apply a range of cooking methods, such as braising, frying or roasting;
- Monitor food during preparation and cooking to ensure quality, consistency, and appropriate cooking standards are achieved;
- Portion, arrange, garnish and present food for service, ensuring consistency and adherence to the restaurant’s quality standards;
- Adjust dishes to meet customer preferences, dietary restrictions, or special requests (e.g., gluten-free, vegan, or allergen-friendly meals);
- Estimate food preparation requirements and organize ingredients and cooking processes to support efficient kitchen operations;
- Ensure proper storage of ingredients and minimize food spoilage through effective inventory rotation (FIFO).




- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and maintained, and that food preparation areas are kept clean and sanitized;
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and comply with relevant food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene standards;
- Provide guidance and support to kitchen assistants and junior staff as required.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate the following:

- An AQF Certificate IV or equivalent qualifications in Commercial Cookery or related field，undertaken and completed in Australia.
- A minimum of one year of full-time work experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced workplace.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Understand OH&S; in a kitchen environment.
