Business Development Representative

Type: Full-time

Reports to: CEO / Co-founder

Most BDR roles hand you a list and a script. This one hands you a market that has already been proven, and asks you to scale it.

Mid-size commercial builders across Australia and New Zealand have been stuck choosing between two bad options. Big global platforms priced for someone else and built for someone else's contracts, or a bunch of point solutions stitched together that nobody actually owns.

Deep Space is built here, for the mid-market. Mid-size commercial builders running multiple projects, which is where most of the market actually sits. One connected platform that replaces the duct-taped mess of spreadsheets and disconnected systems, from tender through to final claim.

Where we're at

Our founding BDR and Founder have done the hard yards to this point. Cold calls, first meetings, live implementations, the lot. Between them they've proven the motion works, landed customers in both countries, and built the playbook off 20 years of relationships with the exact buyer we target.

That's the ceiling of what two people can do. Now we need more people running it, so the founding team can step up into the next layer of the business instead of being the engine themselves.

The basics

- Competitive base plus commission
- Uncapped commission on anything you source that closes
- Sydney based
- Direct line to the CEO / Founder and the founding BDR. No layers, no middle management
- A real path into closing, and a team of your own as the motion scales
- Travel to customer sites across NSW and beyond

The reality

You're not the first person to do this job here, which is the point. The playbook exists. The objections are known. The customers are referenceable. You're inheriting proven ground and being asked to cover a lot more of it than two people ever could.

You'll be prospecting business owners and the other decision makers inside these businesses who are already frustrated with what they've got. Warm ground, not cold lists.

You'll be on the phone first, always. You'll sit in on sales demos and implementations so you actually understand what you're selling, not just the pitch deck version.

No call monitoring. No activity dashboards for the sake of it. Just pipeline you own.

Who this suits

People who want to build something, not maintain something.

Who back themselves on the phone before the email.

Who can hold a real conversation with a builder about margin, variations, and where their money is leaking.

Who'd rather have a seat at the table in two years than a comfortable seat now.

What you won't find here

Layers of approval. Internal politics. Slow decision‑making. We're a small team that punches well above our weight. Everyone wears multiple hats, ships fast, and iterates quickly. If you need hand‑holding through ambiguity, this isn't the place. If you want to be close to the product, close to the customer, and close to the decisions that shape the company, it is.

What we value

Earn Customer Love. Ask Why. Extreme Ownership. Do More With Less. Bring The Right Energy. Be A Good Human. These aren't wall decorations, they're what we hold each other to.

Why this role is different

Construction is one of the last industries to get its AI moment. We're building the platform that delivers it for ANZ, and we're doing it from here. With KAI, our native AI project intelligence, built directly into the platform, you'll be selling something the incumbents can't match locally.

You're joining early, ground floor of a construction technology platform going directly at the incumbents in the ANZ market. What you hear on the phone on Tuesday gets discussed with product on Wednesday. That loop is real and it's rapid.

How we hire

We hire slowly and deliberately. Most of our roles have a “show me” component. We want to see how you think and move, not just what's on your CV.
