Our client is a global investment management organisation with a dedicated Office of the Superannuation Trustee responsible for the governance and oversight of its superannuation trustee. This office exists to safeguard members' best financial interests, supporting a Board made up of a majority of independent, non-executive directors and upholding rigorous standards of governance and regulatory excellence.
The Opportunity
This is a senior role within the Office of the Superannuation Trustee, reporting to the Head of the office, with responsibility for risk, compliance, technology (including AI and cyber) and matters relating to the Financial Accountability Regime. You'll act as the Trustee's interface with these functions, providing oversight, challenge and coordination on matters coming before the Trustee and Board. Technology and AI governance is a particularly significant and high-profile part of the remit, with genuine scope to shape how the Trustee approaches this space from the ground up. It's a full time, Sydney-based opportunity.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead engagement with key stakeholders to meet the Trustee's obligations relating to designated persons, including Responsible Persons, Key Management Personnel and the delegations of authority framework
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to shape the Trustee's AI strategy and governance framework, including supporting policies, metrics and KPIs
- Monitor and review the performance of key service providers within your focus areas, coordinating periodic independent reviews
- Work alongside legal counsel on the negotiation of service provider arrangements related to your areas of focus
- Provide governance support to the Board and guidance to service providers on strategic initiatives and proposals
- Partner with the Company Secretary to drive delivery of the Trustee's Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and People and Culture Committee, including agenda setting and stakeholder engagement
- Coordinate the Trustee's responses to regulator requests, drafting and reviewing content across risk, technology and governance matters
Ideal Experience
- A strong background in superannuation, with a deep understanding of fund governance
- Proven experience operating at a senior level within financial services, with the confidence to influence Board Directors and senior executives
- Familiarity liaising with regulators such as APRA and ASIC
- Strong written communication skills, including experience drafting board papers and regulatory responses
- A genuine interest in technology, AI and governance, with the ability to translate regulatory and risk considerations into practical frameworks
