Deputy General Counsel, Office of General Counsel
The Company is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to join its Office of General Counsel.
This senior in-house legal role is pivotal in providing expert advice to senior leaders on commercial and compliance matters that are integral to the firm's operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of internal commercial legal issues, including but not limited to, client engagement terms, supplier agreements, and contracting issues. Additionally, the role involves ensuring legal profession compliance, managing conflicts of interest, and proactively mitigating commercial and compliance risks.
The Deputy General Counsel will also be involved in the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies and must ensure that the firm adheres to all relevant internal policies, legal profession laws, and regulatory requirements.
Applicants for the Deputy General Counsel position at the company should have a minimum of 6 years' post-qualification experience, with a strong background in Australian contract law, corporate law, and regulatory compliance. The role requires a candidate with a high level of autonomy, sound judgment, and the ability to provide clear, practical solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a similar in-house or general counsel function, be adept at managing conflicts of interest, and possess strong drafting, negotiation, and contract advisory skills.
