Overview:

Shape the future of Nursing through senior academic leadership within the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences

Full-time, 3-year fixed-term Discipline Lead role, with an underlying continuing Associate Professor/Professor position

Salary Academic Level D ($176,883 - $194,868 p.a.) or Academic Level E ($227,847 p.a.) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

Based at the Bundoora campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About the Role

The Discipline Lead, Nursing is a senior academic leadership role responsible for shaping the strategic direction, academic quality, research performance and external engagement of the Nursing discipline within the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences. The role will provide people leadership and discipline-specific governance across Nursing education, research and professional practice, with a focus on strengthening program quality, student outcomes, accreditation readiness, workforce relevance and academic culture.

The Discipline Lead will also build the discipline's research engagement by connecting staff with productive research networks, supporting emerging areas of scholarly activity, and strengthening partnerships with clinical, industry, government and qualified bodies. They will lead and support academic staff, foster a high-performing and collaborative discipline culture, and contribute to the School's broader strategic priorities through teaching, research supervision, governance and academic leadership at School, College and University levels.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

- Academic leadership and management skills with demonstrated ability to lead teams to deliver on strategic objectives.




- Established research record in nursing, with the demonstrated capacity to lead and promote excellent research in the field.
- Demonstrated record of innovative nursing teaching underpinned by a deep understanding of contemporary Learning and Teaching theory.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant industry and training priorities.
- Demonstrated capacity to think strategically and to act tactically based on organisational priorities and objectives.
- High level interpersonal, communication, influencing and negotiating skills including the ability to consult, network and build relationships within the organisation and externally.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a collegiate environment and to develop and achieve shared goals and objectives, and to negotiate agreed directions and outcomes.
- Demonstrated capacity to influence positive change and to work collaboratively to foster effective sharing of information.

Qualifica tions:

- Mandatory: Relevant postgraduate qualification and relevant experience, and eligible for registration in the Discipline with AHPRA .
- Preferred: Completion of the Essentials of Learning and Teaching (login required) or possess (or eligible to apply for) appropriate HEA fellowship (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment,



they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).

Please note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
