Chief Medical Officer (CMO) – Flexible Engagement (Contractor)

Our multidisciplinary team includes medical practitioners, nurses, clinical support staff and operational leaders who are passionate about improving access to care through evidence-based practice, strong clinical governance and continuous quality improvement.

As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to join our leadership team and help shape the future direction of the organisation.

About the Role

This is a flexible leadership opportunity that can be structured as a contractor, casual or part-time engagement, depending on the successful candidate's preferences and availability.

The role requires an active and visible clinical leadership presence, working collaboratively with our executive, nursing and clinical teams to support the ongoing growth and strategic direction of the business.

Previous experience in alternative healthcare, medicinal cannabis, integrative medicine or emerging models of healthcare delivery is essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide clinical leadership and strategic clinical oversight across the organisation.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the clinical governance framework.
- Participate in clinical leadership, governance and operational meetings.
- Develop, review and implement clinical policies, procedures and treatment protocols.
- Provide guidance, support and mentorship to prescribing practitioners.
- Review clinical incidents, complaints and risk management matters.
- Support accreditation, compliance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide advice to executive management regarding patient safety, clinical quality and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with practitioner onboarding, education and career development.




- Contribute to the growth and development of innovative healthcare services.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The successful candidate will be required to meet clearly defined and measurable KPIs relating to:

- Clinical governance.
- Regulatory compliance.
- Practitioner engagement and support.
- Quality improvement initiatives.
- Clinical leadership participation.
- Organisational objectives and strategic priorities.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, governance or medical management.
- Strong knowledge of Australian healthcare regulations and professional standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative leadership style and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience in alternative healthcare.
- Experience in medicinal cannabis prescribing.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Experience supporting, mentoring and developing medical practitioners.

Hours and Flexibility

- Flexible working arrangements.
- Hourly, sessional or fixed weekly commitments available.
- Hybrid and remote options considered.
- Additional clinical consulting opportunities may be available for interested candidates.

Remuneration

Remuneration will be negotiated with the successful candidate and may be structured as:

- Hourly.
- Sessional.
- Contractor.

Compensation will be determined according to experience, qualifications, clinical leadership experience and the scope of the role.
