Diesel Motor Mechanic

About the Role Our client, VPT Mechanical Solutions, is expanding and seeking an experienced and skilled Diesel Motor Mechanic to join their team in Karratha, Western Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing diesel engines, heavy vehicles, and related mechanical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and effective operation.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and heavy vehicle systems.
- Dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking systems, and other mechanical components.
- Replace worn or defective parts in accordance with service manuals and manufacturer specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, engine tuning, and scheduled servicing.
- Test and adjust repaired components to ensure proper performance, reliability, and safety.
- Use diagnostic equipment and computer systems to identify faults and assess engine performance.
- Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness and recommend necessary repairs to meet safety and compliance requirements.




- Respond to breakdowns and provide on-site mechanical support as required.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and industry standards at all times.

Skills and Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics, Motor Mechanics, or a related field.
- Proven experience working with diesel engines and heavy vehicles.
- Strong mechanical diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Sound knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems, repair procedures, and maintenance practices.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and relevant mechanical regulations.
- Relevant licences, tickets, or registrations may be required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
