Feedmill Technician – (Lot Feeding Industry)

A dynamic Australian lot feeding business is seeking a capable and reliable Feedmill Technician to join its operations team. This position plays a critical role in the production of high-quality feed, the maintenance of milling infrastructure, and the consistent delivery of feedlot performance objectives.
The employer is an experienced operator in the feedlot industry, committed to animal welfare, operational safety and continuous improvement, and is currently undertaking an exciting new phase in its overall development.
Key Responsibilities

- Operate milling systems to produce steam-flaked grain in line with daily feedlot ration requirements.
- Collect and analyse milling process data to meet quality assurance specifications.
- Perform and assist with maintenance and repair of milling infrastructure and associated plant equipment.
- Support boiler operations, including water testing and maintenance of the reverse osmosis plant.
- Assist in the maintenance and upgrade of programmable logic controllers (PLC).
- Maintain hydraulic systems across milling infrastructure to ensure operational continuity.
- Ensure accurate and timely feed delivery, including record keeping and communication of variances.




- Operate feed loaders and batch feed accurately using the batch box system.
- Manage grain and commodity receival, storage, and quality control.
- Handle silage and hay operations, including grinding, storage hygiene, and delivery.
- Conduct bunk assessments and support feed allocation under the direction of the Mill Manager.
- Monitor weather and heat load data, contributing to the feedlot’s heat load management plan.

Candidate Profile
- Experience in agricultural, mechanical, or feedmill environments.
- Proven ability to operate and maintain machinery with care and precision.
- Sound understanding of quality assurance, WHS, and animal welfare requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate data entry and record keeping.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative team approach.
- Willingness to work in an outdoor, hands-on role in a feedlot setting.
