HT Early Learning PTY LTD T/A Starlight Early Learning Centre is a dedicated early childhood education and care service based in West Wollongong, NSW. The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and suitably qualified Early Childhood Teacher to join our team at Starlight Early Learning Centre in West Wollongong .
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, organising and delivering engaging early childhood education programs that support children's learning and holistic development. You will work collaboratively with educators, families and other stakeholders to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that responds to the individual strengths, interests and developmental needs of each child.
Location: West Wollongong NSW 2500
Position: Full-time
Salary: $75,000 to $ 85,000 per annum plus superannuation, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
As an Early Childhood Teacher, you will play an important role in supporting the educational, social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of children attending the Centre. Your key duties will include, but not be limited to:
1. Planning, developing and implementing structured and play-based learning experiences in both indoor and outdoor environments using appropriate educational materials, resources and equipment.
2. Designing and delivering educational programs that introduce and develop foundational skills in areas such as literacy, numeracy, language, music, art, literature and creative expression.
3. Organising a variety of age-appropriate learning experiences and activities to promote children's motor skills, social interaction, cooperation, confidence, independence and understanding.
4. Supporting children's speech and language development through storytelling, role play, songs, rhymes, reading, group activities and informal individual and group discussions.
5. Observing and assessing children's learning, behaviour, participation and developmental progress and maintaining appropriate records of their achievements and developmental needs.
6. Monitoring children to identify signs of illness, emotional difficulties,
developmental concerns or other factors that may affect their learning, wellbeing or participation.
7. Supporting and monitoring the nutritional, health, welfare and safety needs of children and maintaining a secure, inclusive and supportive learning setting.
8. Developing learning experiences that respond to children's individual interests, abilities, cultural backgrounds and developmental needs.
9. Preparing educational materials, learning resources and activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving and active participation.
10. Regularly communicating with parents and families regarding children's learning, developmental progress, achievements and areas requiring additional support.
11. Participating in parent meetings, staff meetings and other Centre meetings to discuss children's learning and contribute to the ongoing development of educational programs and practices.
12. Working collaboratively with other early childhood educators and staff to ensure consistency in curriculum planning, teaching practices and children's care and development.
13. Participating in appropriate family and community support initiatives and contributing to positive relationships between the Centre, families and the wider community.
14. Providing guidance and supervision to student teachers or educators undertaking professional placements at the Centre, where required.
15. Maintaining appropriate educational documentation, observations, developmental records and learning assessments in accordance with the Centre's policies and applicable early childhood education requirements.
16. Contributing to the ongoing review and improvement of the Centre's educational programs, teaching practices and learning environments.
17. Evaluating the effectiveness of educational programs and learning experiences and making appropriate adjustments to support children's ongoing learning and developmental outcomes.
Requirements and Skills:
1. Minimum Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Teaching or an equivalent relevant qualification.
2. Relevant registration,
accreditation or licensing required to work as an Early Childhood Teacher in New South Wales, as applicable.
3. Minimum of 1-2 years’ relevant experience in early childhood education and teaching.
4. Sound knowledge of early childhood development and the ability to plan and implement educational programs that support children's social, emotional, intellectual, language and physical development.
5. Demonstrated ability to observe and assess children's development and use observations to guide future learning experiences and educational planning.
6. Ability to create engaging, inclusive and age-appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environments.
7. Strong understanding of children's health, safety, wellbeing and welfare requirements within an early childhood education environment.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop positive and professional relationships with children, families, educators and other stakeholders.
9. Strong organisational and documentation skills with the ability to effectively plan, implement and evaluate educational programs.
10. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional early childhood education team.
11. A genuine commitment to supporting children's learning, development, wellbeing and individual needs.
