Job Description
We're offering a $4,000 sign-on bonus for compassionate and skilled Mental Health Registered Nurses to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team within Immigration Detention Centres. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals experiencing mental health challenges while delivering person-centred, trauma-informed care within a primary healthcare framework.
Monday – Sunday | 8:00am – 4:00pm
Requirements: AHPRA Registered Nurse (Division 1) with either a postgraduate Mental Health qualification and 5+ years' Mental Health specialty experience (non-telehealth), or 7+ years' specialist Mental Health nursing experience.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop, implement and review individualised care plans.
- Deliver therapeutic interventions, medication management, crisis intervention and ongoing mental health support.
- Complete risk assessments, including suicide and self-harm assessments, and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Promote culturally safe, trauma-informed and recovery-focused care that respects the dignity and rights of individuals.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including primary health clinicians, allied health professionals and external services to deliver coordinated care.
Let's Talk About You
Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
with either a postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing and at least 5 years' Mental Health nursing experience (non-telehealth), or a minimum of 7 years' specialist Mental Health Registered Nurse experience without a postgraduate qualification. Experience working within mental health services is essential, while experience in primary healthcare, correctional health or detention settings is highly regarded. Robust clinical assessment, communication and therapeutic engagement skills, along with a compassionate, non-judgemental approach, are highly valued.
