Commercial Litigation Lawyer | 1–3 PQESydney CBD | In-house disputes | No billable targets
Want to stay in litigation but move away from billable targets and business development?
Kanji & Co is looking for a Commercial Litigation Lawyer / Dispute Resolution Solicitor to join our in-house legal team in Sydney CBD.
You’ll work directly with our Head of Dispute Resolution, an experienced senior litigator with 15+ years’ experience, across a varied portfolio of commercial disputes, litigation and regulatory matters.
The difference? You’ll still get the complexity and variety of private practice litigation, but without timesheets, billing targets or the expectation to build a book of business.
The role
Supporting a diverse group of privately owned Australian businesses across building materials, mining, healthcare, technology and property development, you’ll have exposure to a broad range of matters.
You’ll:
- Work across commercial disputes, litigation and regulatory investigations
- Draft court documents, affidavits, witness statements, motions, applications and settlement documents
- Manage matters with support from experienced senior lawyers
- Work directly with business leaders and managers to understand issues and provide practical legal advice
- Advise on contractual obligations, WHS matters, subpoenas, notices to produce and other legal processes
- Liaise directly with Counsel, experts and external law firms
- Conduct legal research and develop commercially focused solutions
- Build your capability to take greater ownership of matters as your experience develops
About you
We’re particularly interested in hearing from lawyers currently working in commercial litigation, dispute resolution or a related disputes practice who are looking for something different from the traditional private practice model.
You’ll ideally have:
- 1–3 years’ PQE in commercial litigation or dispute resolution
- Strong drafting, research and analytical skills
- Knowledge of court processes and litigation procedure
- Confidence communicating with clients and stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and commercial judgement
- The ability to manage competing priorities and take ownership of your work
We’re also open to hearing from lawyers with relevant experience in insolvency litigation, construction disputes or regulatory/investigations work where the experience is transferable.
Why make the move?
- No billable targets
- No business development requirements
- Genuine commercial litigation and disputes work
- Direct access to business leaders and decision-makers
- Work closely with experienced senior lawyers
- Exposure across multiple businesses and industries
- Prospect to take greater ownership of matters
- Sydney CBD location
- Permanent in-house opportunity
If you enjoy litigation but are questioning whether the traditional private practice model is where you want to build your career, this could be a great alternative.
