****URGENT**** Leading Day Rate | 6-Month Contract | Starting September 2026
We are seeking an experienced Building Services / Facility Management Engineer (Engineers with Building Services, Communications, Controls, Electrical Building Services, Fire Services, Hydraulic, ICT, Mechanical Building Services, Security Systems, Telecommunications Degrees) for an approximately six-month engagement supporting the inspection, assessment and technical assurance of Rail Building Services infrastructure.
This role will suit a senior engineer with strong practical experience in the following Asset Types
- Communication Systems,
- Electrical - Building Lighting & Power Low Voltage (LV)
- Fire - Alarm Sound & Intercom Systems, Detection Systems, Exit & Emergency Lighting, Hydrant & Pump Systems & Special Hazard Systems
- Hydraulic - Non-potable Water, Potable Water & Sewerage System
- Security Systems
- Building Management Systems,
with some benefit from having rail exposure.

About the Opportunity
This is a hands-on technical role that combines site-based rail asset inspections with desktop engineering review and formal reporting.
You will inspect recently constructed infrastructure, identify and assess defects, review available design and maintenance information,
and provide practical engineering advice around defect treatment and remediation.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed inspections and technical assessments of FM rail assets
- Identify, document and assess defects and areas requiring further investigation
- Provide engineering advice on appropriate defect treatment, remediation and repair
- Review existing designs, drawings, maintenance records, inspection history and other asset information
- Compare observed asset condition against design requirements, maintenance standards and available records
- Analyse inspection findings and supporting information to determine asset condition and engineering risk
- Prepare clear technical reports, recommendations and supporting documentation
- RPEQ a bonus, though not required
About You
You will bring:
- Degree-qualified mechanical or hydraulic engineer
- Demonstrated experience within building services
- Proven experience undertaking asset inspections, audits and/or testing
- Practical experience identifying and assessing defects
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, designs, maintenance records and historical asset information
- Strong technical reporting and engineering assessment capability
- Ability to provide practical recommendations for defect repair and remediation
- An innovative mindset around inspection techniques and asset condition assessment
