Reporting directly to the Director, you will lead the people, performance and safety functions across Rivercity Maintenance.
This is a hands-on role focused on supporting our managers, developing our people, improving accountability and helping strengthen the systems that support our growing business.
You will spend time both in the office and out in the field with our technicians and supervisors, giving you a practical understanding of how the business operates and where improvements can be made.
The role offers significant autonomy and the chance to directly influence how our people, safety and performance systems develop as the company continues to grow.
You will also have access to experienced external health and safety advisors who provide specialist WHS guidance and support when required.
About the role

Key responsibilities
- Manage recruitment across field and office positions
- Coordinate onboarding,
inductions and probation reviews for new employees
- Develop and manage employee performance reviews and development plans
- Support managers with performance management and employee relations matters
- Assist with disciplinary processes and workplace matters where required
- Help develop supervisors and future leaders within the business
- Coordinate and oversee the company's WHS management systems in conjunction with our external WHS advisors and internal management team
- Review and improve SWMS, risk assessments, Take 5s and safety procedures
- Conduct site safety inspections and field audits
- Investigate incidents, hazards and near misses and coordinate corrective actions
- Monitor employee licences, competencies, training and compliance requirements
- Review completed jobs and technician documentation to improve consistency, quality and accountability
- Identify recurring performance, documentation or process issues and work with managers to address them
- Help improve internal systems, procedures and employee engagement across the business
- Ensure all vehicles, tools, plant and equipment are appropriately serviced, maintained, tested, calibrated and compliant with applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
About you
We are looking for someone who is practical, confident and comfortable working with both management and field-based employees.
You will ideally have:
- Strong HR and people management experience
- Experience managing employee performance and disciplinary matters
- Practical knowledge of Australian employment legislation and Modern Awards
- Good working knowledge of WHS obligations and safety management systems
- Experience conducting workplace or site investigations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence having difficult conversations when required
- Excellent organisation and follow-up skills
- Strong computer and systems capability
- A practical and commercially minded approach
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes
Formal HR and/or WHS qualifications will be highly regarded.
Experience within construction, trades, maintenance, facilities management or another field-service environment would be advantageous.
