The SESLHD Mental Health Service is a specialised clinical service, providing care to a local population of over 930,000 residents in the Sydney metropolitan area. We provide care within both hospital and community settings to support people living with mental illness at times when acute intervention is needed, or to remain well in their community and lead their own recovery.

Are you an experienced Clinical Psychologist with a background in mental health who enjoys working with young people? This position requires you to work autonomously and as part of a caring and compassionate multidisciplinary team who provides mental health assessment, planning, evidence based treatment and evaluation to prevent or minimise the physical, psychological and social consequences of emerging mental disorder in young people.
CASPAR (Comprehensive Assessment Service for Psychosis and At Risk) is a specialist youth mental health service providing in-reach into headspace sites across SESLHD. CASPAR provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and other support services for adolescents, young people and their families who present with complex mental health disorders and possible UHR (ultra high risk for psychosis). We have a multidisciplinary team approach to care, aimed to prevent, identify, treat and reduce the impact of these difficulties on adolescents, young people and their families. We provide short to medium term care. Interventions may be individual, family or group within a recovery based model.
Where you'll be working
The CASPAR teams works closely with headspace staff at the Miranda, Hurstville and Bondi Junction centres in the referral of young people, the delivery of specialist assessment and intervention, and builds capacity in early detection of emerging mental illness.

Selection Criteria:
- Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with endorsement in Clinical Psychology (or eligibility to progress to same), along with a minimum two-year full-time equivalent APAC-accredited Master or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of evidence-based psychological assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes with young people (12-25 years) with severe and complex mental health needs and highly developed skills in engagement and therapeutic alliance with young people.
- Capacity to design and implement short to medium term, individual and group treatment protocols for young people with severe and complex mental health needs.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, organisational skills and time management skills.
- Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff.
- Demonstrated experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a community mental health setting.
- Demonstrated experience in and commitment to quality improvement and research.
- Current drivers licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
