About the role

As Kitchen Hand, you will work with a Chef to provide meal options for village residents and other customers. The Kitchen Hand is responsible for food preparation, assisting the Chef with cooking of meal offerings, serving, and maintaining a clean kitchen.

This position covers Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday service between 10.00am and 3pm, Tuesday 10.00am - 2.30pm and Sunday 10am to 3.00pm. From time to time there may be catering demands such as morning teas, events, and meeting lunch plates.

The successful applicant will have:

The ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Experience with food preparation and cooking

Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness

Ability to follow directions and complete tasks independently.





Understand safe work practices and food safety/hygiene.

Work to set time frames to complete jobs in a timely and efficient manner.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

There is a requirement to work weekday public holidays unless prior arrangements have been made.

Work within the Vision and Values of Wesley Mission

Experience working in an aged care setting.

Qualifications or training in food preparation and cooking

First aid certificate
