What you will be required to do:
In this role, you will contribute to the planning, assessment and delivery of traffic and transport initiatives that improve road safety, accessibility and network efficiency across the Camden community. You will provide technical advice, support traffic and transport projects, and work collaboratively with internal teams, external agencies, consultants and residents to help shape connected, sustainable transport outcomes.
- Evaluate and recommend infrastructure needs for intersections, roads, cycleways, footpaths and other traffic facilities
- Assist with the coordination and management of traffic matters relating to the organisation and privately organised events
- Support approval processes for traffic-related projects, including traffic committee reports, organisation reports, minutes and implementation of resolutions
- Assist with the development, coordination and implementation of traffic studies
- Maintain traffic information databases and provide technical input across projects, development applications and strategic transport matters
- Liaise with external agencies on local transport issues, public transport services, major infrastructure and road safety considerations
- Prepare funding applications and help project manage traffic and transport projects for capital works programs
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in traffic, civil engineering or a relevant discipline, or extensive experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge and experience across traffic and transport management functions, operations, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Sound judgement, integrity and the ability to make decisions where competing needs exist
- High-level negotiation, dispute resolution, project management and time management skills
- Highly developed analytical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to prepare clear, logical reports
- A current driver’s licence and the ability to attend after-hours meetings when required
