About us
Adoption Services is part of the Civil and Enforcement Services Group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
Adoption Services delivers a range of services under the Adoption Act 1984, including counselling to people considering placing a child for adoption, assessing people to be approved to adopt a child from Victoria or overseas, and providing records to people who have been affected by past adoptions.
The Adoption Support Unit is instrumental in providing high-quality administrative support to ensure these client services are delivered.
What you will do
As adoption support officer, you will support adoption services through accurate records and case work.
You will help people access adoption information and support smooth daily operations.
You will:
- prepare accurate cases and process applications for adoption information and child adoption.
- search for adoption records and work with other organisations to retrieve them.
- provide reliable support across programs, including mail, records and daily office tasks.
- manage financial tasks, complex enquiries and sensitive information with care.
- manage your cases with minimal supervision and help improve daily services.
About you
A relevant degree,
tertiary qualification or vocational certificate is desired. You do not need a specific qualification to apply.
You should also have:
- service experience and the ability to learn new systems and procedures quickly.
- working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Dynamics 365, TRIM and Outlook.
- strong skills in managing sensitive client information and keeping accurate records.
- transparent communication, sound judgement and a polite, supportive approach to others.
