About the role:
TheFootscray Hospital'sShort Stay Unit (SSU) plays a critical role in patient flow, providing staff with exposure to a diverse range of patients. It demands strong decision‑making skills, effective time management, and the ability to prioritise care. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, the team are committed to delivering the highest standard of care to our community.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Nurse to join the Short Stay Unit (SSU) at Footscray Hospital as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM).
Working closely with the Nurse Manager and multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical leadership, support staff development, promote effective patient flow, and deliver safe, high-quality, patient‑centred care aligned with Western Health values.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff in a busy emergency SSU environment.
- Co-ordinate daily operations, staffing and patient flow to ensure efficient, high-quality care.
- Mentor and support staff members, promoting a positive and professional workplace.
- Promote patient safety, quality improvement and adherence to clinical standards.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team, patients and families.
- Work towards meeting KPI's and Statement of Priorities as set by the Department of Health;
About you:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Minimum of four years nursing experience with at least six months in critical care area (ED/ICU/CCU).
- Possess post graduate qualification in Critical Care Nursing, preferably ED.
- Demonstrate effective management skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess highly developed interpersonal skills including conflict resolution strategies.
- Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Previous experience as a Nurse in Charge (desirable).
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).
