About the role

The Student Progression Officer provides high-level, timely and accurate administrative support, along with specialist advice to both staff and students on course progression through to graduation. The role also contributes to the continuous improvement of processes and systems, helping ensure our administrative services are clear, consistent and student-centred.

A key focus of this position is supporting students to navigate the practical complexities of course structures, professional accreditation requirements and university rules—so they can progress and graduate with as few administrative barriers as possible. The work is wide-ranging and meaningful, sitting at the intersection of compliance obligations, direct and indirect student support, externally imposed legislation and UNE policy.

We recognise the pressures facing the higher education sector. In that context, we’re proud that internal staff surveys consistently show colleagues in this and related roles feel valued, supported and heard.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- The ability to tailor your responses to clients from a mix of cultural, linguistic and socio-economic backgrounds and have sound communication skills;
- Attention to detail, computer and time management skills;

- A genuine desire to help students complete their academic journey;
- The ability to work with complex rules and polices and communicate these clearly;
- The temperament to work both directly supervised and more independently under general directions.

About the Department

The Student Journey portfolio is responsible for all aspects of the student experience at UNE to ensure quality of provision from enrolment to graduation. Through institutional collaboration the Division supports the University's strategy, in ensuring all UNE students and UNE graduates have an experience which supports and enables their academic success and future life course progress.
