The successful applicant for this position will have a critical role in a small, busy team within the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Unit at Victoria Police.

The CVE Unit works collaboratively with other specialist units in Victoria Police, national and state government entities and third-party providers to provide therapeutic interventions to individuals who hold a violent extremist ideology, are vulnerable to violent extremism or who have been convicted of terrorism related offences.

The CVE Unit is a multidisciplinary team comprising sworn police members, a senior psychologist, analysts, case managers, policy/project officers and in-house mentors. As a Policy/Project Officer you will be required to work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to advance the CVE Unit's strategic priorities. These include:

- delivering programs and projects to prevent terrorism and counter violent extremism in Victoria
- enhancing the capacity of government and non-government agencies to support and deliver CVE identification and intervention activities
- delivering commitments under Victoria's Strategy for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism 2025-2028 and Commonwealth funding agreements
- multi-agency collaboration and coordination of CVE programs and initiatives
- advocating or Victoria Police's agenda and participating in national and international CVE forums
- supporting Victoria Police's response to the Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion.

The role reports directly to the Senior Policy/Project Advisor in the CVE Unit.

Your duties will include:

- Building and maintaining an awareness of broader CVE trends, policies, programs and legislation in Victoria and across other jurisdictions
- Providing written and verbal policy advice and preparing project briefs, reports and plans
- Consulting, collaborating, and negotiating with both internal and external stakeholder
- Supporting Victoria Police's participation in state and Commonwealth governance structures




- Supporting and leading the delivery of CVE projects, including policy and legislative initiatives
- Contributing to the development of funding proposals, work plans and reporting to funders and other bodies
- Contributing to building a positive team and workplace culture

About You:

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

- Tertiary degree in relevant field
- Proven ability to analyse, formulate and communicate complex policy issues, options and recommendations
- Highly developed written communication skills with an ability to prepare reports, business case submissions, briefs, project plans and other documents as required.
- Proven ability to plan and deliver complex projects, including policies, programs, research, evaluations, submissions and legislative reform
- Demonstrated ability to build positive team member and stakeholder relationships.

Further Information:

- One (1) x full-time, fixed term position (until 30 June 2028) available.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
