Elm Commercial Joinery is a Melbourne-based commercial joinery manufacturer operating from our modern facility in Officer South.
We're looking for an experienced Senior Cabinetmaker / Factory Lead to join our core team and take a leading, hands‑on role on the factory floor.
This position suits an experienced commercial cabinetmaker who takes pride in quality, understands production and is ready to take ownership of day‑to‑day factory operations as our team grows.
The Role
- Manufacture and assemble high-quality commercial joinery
- Read and interpret detailed shop drawings and production documentation
- Coordinate day‑to‑day factory workflow and production priorities
- Allocate and oversee work as the factory team grows
- Check completed work for quality, dimensions and finish before dispatch
- Identify drawing or manufacturing issues early and coordinate with drafting to resolve them
- Guide and support cabinetmakers, apprentices and factory staff
- Assist with CNC, edgebanding and other production processes where required
- Ensure materials, hardware and components are ready for production
- Maintain an organised, efficient and safe factory floor
- Help improve manufacturing methods, workflow and production efficiency
- Coordinate with our Site Manager on deliveries, installation requirements and project priorities
- Strong commercial joinery experience
- Trade qualification in cabinetmaking or equivalent industry experience
- Excellent ability to read detailed joinery shop drawings
- Strong knowledge of commercial cabinet construction, materials, hardware and finishes
- Experience with modern joinery machinery and production methods
- High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and find practical solutions
- Confidence guiding and supporting other factory staff
- Valuable communication and organisational skills
- A reliable, hands‑on approach with the ability to take ownership
- Australian working rights
CNC and edgebander experience will be highly regarded.
Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Factory Supervisor or Production Lead is advantageous, but we're also interested in exceptional senior cabinetmakers ready to step into greater responsibility.
