As the business continues to grow, we are seeking a Formulating Research & Development Chemist to join our experienced R&D; team based at Tomago.
This is a hands‑on role focused on the formulation, development, testing and commercialisation of new and next‑generation products for Australian and global markets. You will work across the development lifecycle, from laboratory formulation and testing through to validation, scale‑up and commercial manufacture.
Whiteley also has solid collaborative research relationships with Australian universities and an established intellectual property portfolio, providing opportunities to contribute to innovative research and new product development.
The Role
Working within our Research & Development team, you will contribute to the development of new formulations and technologies across medical device reprocessing, surface hygiene, hand hygiene and broader infection prevention applications.
You will work across the product development lifecycle – from initial concept and laboratory formulation through testing, validation and scale‑up to commercial manufacture.
The role will also work collaboratively across Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Marketing and other areas of the business, as well as with external research partners.
What We're Looking For
- Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry, Formulation Science or a related discipline, with postgraduate qualifications such as a Masters or PhD highly regarded.
- Experience in chemical formulation, product development or applied research within an industrial, pharmaceutical, medical device, healthcare, cleaning, personal care or related environment.
- Strong practical laboratory skills with experience in formulation development, analytical techniques and relevant instrumentation.
- Experience in the development and/or validation of analytical or product test methods.
- Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment, including exposure to GMP, ISO-based Quality Management Systems, TGA or similar regulatory frameworks, will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of regulatory pathways for medical devices, therapeutic goods or OTC medicines would be advantageous.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and with external research partners.
