Div1 Nurse – High Acuity Community Care (Complex Spinal Cord Injury Support)
We are seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses to join a highly skilled care team supporting an individual with a high-level spinal cord injury and complex, life-sustaining care needs within a community setting. This is a rewarding and challenging role requiring advanced clinical expertise, calm decision-making, and a strong commitment to person‑centred care. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, consistent, and dignified support while promoting independence and quality of life.
The participant has a high-level spinal cord injury and does not have voluntary movement or independent breathing. They require continuous, specialised clinical support, particularly in respiratory management. The participant is articulate and educated and knowledgeable about his own care. The participant is actively involved in the community.
As the Registered Nurse in this role, you will receive on‑the‑job training tailored to the specific position requirements and the participant's unique preferences. Post‑training, you will have ongoing access to a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for both remote and in‑person support. As the Registered Nurse, you will require robust clinical reasoning, sharp decision‑making,
and the confidence to manage emergencies should they arise. While you will be part of a team, you will be required to work independently with the participant and at other times in pairs. When paired, you will lead the second support worker to guarantee that all care is protected, in line with evidence‑based practice, and aligned with individual care plans.

- Respiratory & Airway Management
- Autonomic Dysreflexia Prevention & Response
- Skin Integrity Management
- Bowel & Bladder Management
- Medication Management
- Clinical Monitoring Respiratory Equipment & Emergency Preparedness
- Personal Care (all personal care is done by two workers one nurse and support worker nurse is to lead)
- Mobility, Safety & Community Access (including driving a van)
- Communication & Assistive Technology
- Leadership & Training – once trained and experienced with the participant, you may be required to assist in the training of new staff
