About the Role

Hastings Deering is looking for an experienced Field Service Electrical Fitter to join our Toowoomba team.

In this hands-on role, you'll work directly with customers across the Darling Downs region, providing expert electrical diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and commissioning support on Caterpillar equipment. No two days are the same, with a mix of fault finding, customer interaction and technical problem solving in the field.

- Travel to customer sites to diagnose and repair electrical faults on heavy equipment.
- Perform testing, commissioning, installation, maintenance and repair of Caterpillar electrical systems and components.
- Deliver timely, high-quality service to minimise customer downtime.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers and internal teams.
- Complete service reports and documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Support and mentor apprentices and developing tradespeople.
- Maintain strong communication with customers while managing expectations and providing updates.

About You

A successful teammate will have:

- Trade qualifications - Trade qualified Electrical Mechanic/Fitter or dual trade Electrician/Fitter with at least 3 - 5 years post-trade experience.
- Caterpillar product knowledge - experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling.
- Strong troubleshooting skills - ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.
- Customer-focused mindset - confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.
- Safety-first approach - committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.
- Valid driver's licence - required to travel between customer sites across the Toowoomba region.

Hastings Deering follows a Pre-Employment Process for all successful applicants, which includes two employment references, a National Police Check and a medical assessment.
